If you could introduce a rule change to the game what would it be
an extra point for scoring 3 or more goals in a game - would this stop the bus parking?

sin bin to stop losing players for 2 soft yellows?

a penalty kick when you reach 4 corners - yeah I know fucking stupid

lets be honest there's more less entertaining games than exciting ones these days, or do we plod along as it is?

Scrap the offside rule and bring back goal hangers.

Points reductions for the worst diving offences
Penalties when defenders hold players at corners and free kicks but I was probably pissed back in those days

What about having DEEfensive teams and OFFensive teams and players who just come on to take the free kicks, corners or penalties. And throwing towels when one of the 10 refs spots an infringement followed by five minutes discussion. What about multiple time outs, and extra points when the ball goes over the bar........................

Saul: only when the video ref reviews every decision made by the ref. Also don't forget the female officials will be preparing to remove their kit when they get it wrong. This will increase crowds as it will not be shown to TV viewers. In addition to a yellow card for diving the mascots (all 10 of them!) will be brought on to kick the shit out of the culprit until hospitalised.

In your scenario will we have cheerleaders and stops for adverts every few seconds?

Any rolling around pretending to be really fucking hurt when there's actually nothing wrong with you to receive a 10 match ban and a team point deduction of 9 points.

And an OSCAR.

if a soccer game is tied after 90 minutes they should go into overtime until the special team come on and are able to kick a field goal. That team will then progress to the play offs and try to get to the grand final superbowl at Wembley. The next season the last team at the bottom of the league get the first pick of new players in the draft from the Vanarama League North and South. All foreign players must re-apply for work permits. I think that about covers it. Oh and we need cheerleaders with big tits

A sin-bin for blatant diving.

Re: If you could introduce a rule change to the game what would it be
If the ball is going towards the goal and an outfield player handles it, the ref should award a goal. Like lbw in cricket.

A team conceding a goal should be allowed to kick off as soon as they can get the ball to the centre circle regardless of if the other team is still celebrating.

I'd just enforce the current ones properly. Like sheparding the ball out for a goal kick without attempting to play the ball winds me up.

Clock should stop for duration of substitutions & when a goal is scored until game is restarted.
Also temporary substitutions should be allowed whilst player is assessed for concussion. Saw Saville v Real Madrid game couple of seasons ago. Sevilla player suffered head injury & went off for assessment. Whilst off field Real scored twice in 2-3 win. Sevilla was punished for doing assessment properly. They could have either not taken player off at all or rushed him back onto field before assessment was done properly & the outcome in this instance would not encourage teams to conduct protocols properly.

Moving ball forward 10 yards at free kicks for any dissent towards referee

Straight red for diving

Ball can be kicked in or thrown in

"Would probably never happen as clubs, the police, transport authorities etc like to have a pretty clear idea of when games will finish to within 5 to 10 minutes"

A time study would soon tell us how long the ball is in play so if say it's 35 minutes then play 35 minute halves.

Also, the ball has to be kept on the move, a player could still be punished for holding up the game.

Being castrated on the spot for instance...............that should keep the game moving.

If a game is tied after 90 minutes, the team with the combined longest cock lengths takes the points.

Corners. I'm sick of playerstretching the rules to the limit by putting the ball on the outside of the quadrant, but getting away with " the whole of the ball not being over the whole of the line. To gain what? A fucking inch? Put the ball in the fucking quadrant, not on the line, not outside but technically touching. Inside! Or the corner becomes a goal kick. Who started that ridiculous fucking trend anyway?

Maybe the ref calling the last period would work, as in rugby, when the game ends the moment the ball goes out of play.

Re: If you could introduce a rule change to the game what would it be
An aspect of the game that needs to change is the blatant swearing at the officials by players and managers. It is disgraceful, disrespectful and is copied by kids up and down the country who are emulating their hero's.

To see Big Andy incessantly mouthing off to the ref is a joke and he is not alone by a long chalk. Each weekend, up and down the leagues, the refs are being disrespected by over-paid and over-hyped footballers shouting obscenities at the ref, or linesman, just because a decision has gone against them. It needs to stop.

They stopped the ridiculous pushing and shoving in the penalty box and the disrespectful swearing can be stopped. Yellow card for a first offence, red for second. The game would change for the better almost immediately.

Re: If you could introduce a rule change to the game what would it be
Don't know if this has been suggested, not likely i'm putting my tin hat on as i'm writing.

In Rugby league you are not allowed to deliberately play the ball against an opponent to go out of the field of play to gain advantage.

In a nutshell stop players playing the ball off the other team to gain a throw or goal kick. It would force the player to keep hold of the ball and play it. If they do deliberately play it off its a throw or corner to the other team.
